Both sides are trying to make their cases to the public.No one is ready to say "when" and the effect remains more of a future problem than a present one.

The Writer's Guild has done a better job of shutting production than anyone anticipated,cutting the flow of available new episodes on TV and ensuring a re-run heavy December.There are some who think viewers won't care because we have so many options that weren't available when the writer's last shut Hollywood down in the late 80's,from Netflix,to You Tube to ipod video downloads.

Still,the big hits will survive,like Lost,24,and Grey's Anatomy.But the shows in the middle,slow-build that might have been nutured until they found an audience,wil suffer the most.The last thing broadcast TV needs is another exodus of viewers.
